2023 WA STATE CHAMPION BREWERY

SUSTAINABILITY

At Black Brewing Co we are conscious of our footprint on this amazing place we call home, so we take our role seriously and try and implement as many environmentally friendly practices that we can.

This is ever evolving as we strive toward finding more ways to minimise our impact on the planet. Below are a few of the practices we have adopted so far:

Solar Panels

Infinite Energy installed a 100kW solar panel system in 2018 which supplies power to the brewery and venue.

Water use

Water use for all our venue gardens comes directly from the dam located on our property.

Spent grain and yeast

Our brewers supply local farmers with our spent grain and yeast to use as feed for their cattle and calves.

Packaging

Over the past year we have made the switch from using bottles to aluminium cans to package our beer. Not only are aluminium cans 100% recyclable, they also weigh less than glass which in turn reduces the carbon footprint. According to Slate transporting a glass bottle emits 20 percent more greenhouse gases compared to aluminium cans.

Repurposed Packaging

Using recycled materials is a new approach we have taken on board to help reduce wastage. Our Blackberry Gose - “She’s NOT Apples” edition is the first project where we have repurposed excess unused Apple Cider cans, that would have otherwised been thrown away, to package our Blackberry Gose. This approach is something we have decided to continue to do moving forward to ensure our excess packaging is reused.
