2023 will be a year to remember at Black Brewing Co. After great performances at the Royal Queensland, Perth Royal and Melbourne Royal International Beer Awards, we have continued with our successful year at the recent 2023 Independent Beer Awards (IBA), increasing our annual tally to 12 Gold, 13 Silver and 10 Bronze medals plus two Champion Stout Trophy wins across the four competitions. “It’s been a very productive year for us, and we are pretty pumped with the outcome. To win the award at the indies was just the final icing on the cake to round out the year” says Bailey Morgan, Assistant Brewer.
And it was a good finish indeed, as in the recent IBA awards we were announced as the State Champion Brewery for Western Australia and one of three finalists for the National Small Brewery Champion award. This is a huge hit for us and we are stoked that Gav Williams, Head Brewer, was present to receive the news: “It was great to attend the awards ceremony in QLD and receive this prestigious award. It’s incredible to be part of this Craft Industry where your efforts and successes are acknowledged by your peers.”
Having scored medals for every beer we have released this year; our brewery team has demonstrated their ability to produce delicious beer in every style. If your local bottle shop doesn’t stock our tins, then it’s time to start a conversation with the proprietor.
This great achievements can be attributed in a big part to Gavin and Bailey. Their combination of hard work, dedication and precision with their passion and love for brewing seems to be the key for their success, according to Renee Potter, our Chief of Operations: “They are not just two great hard-working professionals but is the passion that you can see in their eyes when they are talking about beer that makes the difference. They are in love with the art of brewing”.
You can all expect more top-quality beers coming out from our Brewery, says Gav: “We have set the bar high this year, but our intention is to keep forging ahead. We’ve got more new releases coming for Spring and Summer this year, and 2024 is going to see some cracking limited releases from our brewery”
