GOLD MEDAL - 2020 - Wine Showcase Magazine Tasting
2017 was a great Chardonnay vintage.
Gingin chardonnay fruit was hand harvested from this vineyard at the southern end of the Wallcliffe appellation. The fruit was refrigerated overnight and gently pressed in the morning with the free run juice going straight to a fine selection of French cask barriques, 25% of which new.
Wild fermented and matured in barrel for 9 months the wine received regular batonnage for extra texture and complexity.
This soothing single vineyard Chardonnay displays a soft, creamy texture. Nutty, yet not complicated.
With careful cellaring this wine will develop complexity over the next 5-8 years.
Cellar: Can be cellared for 5-8 years
Pairs well with: Scallops, chicken dishes and pork
